UCO Candle LanternUCO candle lanterns are among the industry's best, hands down. Started in 1971, they have since become providers of groundbreaking lanterns that are perfect for camping and traveling. A UCO candle lantern is unlike any other. They are environmentally friendly, safe, reliable, cheap and highly wind resistant (thanks to the lantern design). They also prevent wax dripping down the lantern by placing the candle on a small spring that regulates its height for up to nine hours. The lack of combusitble fuels means that their candle lanterns are cheaper and safer to use.
Here's the three main lanterns available from UCO. The Mini Candle Lantern. This small lantern is made from rust proof aluminum and a stainless steel handle. It is ideal for campers or backyard barbeques. It "runs" on tealights and offers a minimum four hours of light. The efficient use of tealights is best expressed economically: most candle lanterns cost two dollars per hour, while the UCO Mini costs a measely eight cents. The lack of combustible fuels also makes this a more environmentally sound purchase. The Original Candle Lantern with LED light is a new twist on an already proven design. UCO added an LED light that runs on batteries directly into the candle lantern! This provides the same great benefits of their original model (minus the environmental aspect) and gives users a chance to use a flashlight for those hard to find items at nighttime. After all, would you want to take a candle lantern into a one man tent to look for your keys? Me neither. The included CR2032 batteries are good for over forty hours, while the candles last for about nine hours. The Candlelier Lantern by UCO is the large scale model. While it still has the same great attributes as the original, the Candlelier uses three specially designed candles (interchangable with the original) and burns for nine hours. It generates enough heat to cook food and water on the heat shield, and doesn't require the use of propane or other gas for the stove! This candle lantern is large enough to light up a campsite for a small family for the entire evening. These are the three main UCO candle lantern options available today. As you can see, their unreliance on fuels make them portable, safe and extremely cost effective. The Candlelier -the largest of the three- still costs about twenty five cents an hour to use, compared to two dollars for most lanterns. It is this design and commitment to the environment that makes UCO an industry leader in the creation of candle lanterns. |
